Subject 3/5: Heel-to-toe Drop
.
Heel-to-toe drop (or offset) is directly related to shoe stack height and refers to the difference between the heel stack height and the toe stack height. The heel-to-toe drop is determined by subtracting the toe height from the heel height. A lower drop shoe (0-4mm) allows the wearer to experience a more natural foot movement when running, while a higher drop (8-10mm+) supports the heel, calves and achilles better. A lower or higher drop is complete personal preference depending on goals, possible injuries, preferred terrain or foot strike (Subject 4/5).
