Becky Smith

Co-owner of Vancouver Running Company, Becky (thankfully) found a love for running, despite their relationship getting off to a shaky start. Find her taking her favourite Asics trainers out for a seawall spin, earning that post-run brunch.

How long have you been running for?
On and off for about 8 years

Where is your favourite place to run?
The seawall, although once I start trail running I have a feeling the mountains are going to win me over.

Describe your best running memory
I don’t know if it’s the best or the worst, but it was the very first time I tried running.  I remember thinking to myself one day, I should try running, so I put on whatever “running” shoes I had at the time and literally sprinted around all four sides of one block and thought “this is WAY too hard for me”.

At that time it truly felt like one of the hardest things I had ever done.  I think back on it often now and reflect on how jaded my perception of running was at that time and how something that felt like the hardest thing I had ever done has become one of the biggest parts of my life and one of my most favourite things to do.

What is your favourite post-run treat?
Brunch!

Why did you start running with Flight Crew?
Do I really need to answer that? Duh!!

Your favourite Flight Crew memory?
When the crew surprised us at the Giant Ant office to thank us for everything we have done for Flight Crew and the community.  It is amazing to see what Flight Crew means to people and it truly touched me to see what an impact it has had in the community.

What’s the running achievement you’re most proud of?
Just running

What’s your favourite item of running clothing/accessory?
Asics DS Trainers and my lululemon swiftly long sleeve Flight Crew top

If you could run with anyone in the world who would it be and why?
My husband, I’m best when he is beside me in everything I do.

Favourite running distance?
5-7KM
