We're just days away from Wings for Life World Run - APP RUN Vancouver!
We wanted to send along some helpful reminders to get you all set for the run this Sunday, May 7 at 4:00am. Remember, this is Sunday morning at 4:00am!
WHEN
Please arrive at Vancouver Running Co. (1886 W1st Ave) on the morning of May 7 at 3:20am
3:20am - Everyone arrive at Vancouver Running Co. where you will receive your free lululemon top, then get ready to run! We recommend picking-up your top anytime Friday or Saturday from Vancouver Running Co between 10:00am-6:00pm to save you some time the morning of.
3:20am - 4:00am - Runner info and last minute prep. Runners head out on course. We will go over route info and provide maps for everyone to run with.
4:00am - Wings for Life World Run starts globally
WHAT TO BRING
Feel free to bring along a bag with clothing to change into after the run. The Red Bull team will transport your bags from Vancouver Running Co. to the Red Bull Lounge in Yaletown (1128 Homer St). You will need your running shoes, lights, and any nutrition (gels, bars etc.) that you'd like during the run. There will be water stations serving water and Red Bull in three separate locations.
RACE FORMAT
At 4:00am all runners will depart Vancouver Running Co. in a controlled group along 1st Ave to Lamey's Mill Rd then onto seawall (please note this is different than what's described in the participant email you received Thursday. Modifications have been made due to construction) where you will begin an out-and-back route around the False Creek seawall to the English Bay Inukshuk and back (see map below).
The virtual catcher car will leave 30min after the runners and begin picking runners virtually off as the morning progresses. To add some fun we've got chaser bikes in place of the cars that will coincide with the app. During this time you will continue taking this route out-and-back until you are caught. When you are caught you will head to the Red Bull Lounge (1128 Homer St) to meet up with everyone else where you will can enjoy a full breakfast and watch the world events streaming live. There may also be a few surprises we haven't shared yet!
We will also have a donation bar serving mimosas and caesars with all funds raised going towards Wings for Life, so bring your change!
WINGS FOR LIFE WORLD RUN APP
In order to participate in the Wings for Life World Run, it’s mandatory to download the Wings for Life World Run App, this will also give you access to see how you rank among other Wings for Life World Run Runners cross the world. Once you have downloaded the App, please join the team VRC Flight Crew. The App allows you to set your goal distance but ultimately it will let you know via sound signals when you've been caught. So make sure to have head phones with you.
The Wings for Life World Run is intended to be a fun event to raise funds and awareness for Wings for Life.
Don't forget, the Wings for Life World Run begins at the same time world wide so be ready to run at exactly 4:00am. Vancouver Running Co. is located in a residential neighbourhood, please respect our neighbours as you arrive at the shop and as we leave.
