This year has been starved of running events, so when Vancouver Running Company Co-Owner Rob Smith, and Juice Truck founder Zach Berman started brainstorming events to get the run community moving for December, they knew it was going to be something special.
Get Juiced with Zach and Rob was born from an idea to connect Vancouver Running Company with The Juice Truck, using the various stores as checkpoints to earn you entries to a huge community prize draw. A chaotic run with no exact start or finish line, an insane prize, AND a 90s theme race shirt - what more could any runner want?! Oh, and to top it off, all proceeds were going to Vancouver Food Bank - a truly worthy cause, especially this year.
Across 7 days of running, thousands of kilometres were logged from almost 150 runners, all of whom had to check-in at Vancouver Running Company before heading off to their chosen Juice Truck location to earn themselves an entry into the prize draw.
Some runners chose to take on the Super Gnarly Athleticism Loop of Running Prowess - ticking off visits to all 5 Juice Truck locations, starting and finishing and VRC, for a total of about 45km, and earning you 20 entries into the prize draw. That still wasn’t enough for a couple of runners - one chose to repeat this crazy challenge four times, and one ran it twice over the week.
The total number of entries via routes run came in at almost 800 - a testament to the quality of prizes at stake. Our community partners and friends really stepped up to support this event, with the total prize value estimated at almost $5000, and only one winner - a very Merry Christmas indeed for that lucky runner.
Running achievements and awesome prizes aside, the highlight of Get Juiced was seeing so many runners getting excited about an event, turning out in force to support their local community, and raising $4600 for the Vancouver Food Bank.
Thank you to lululemon, The Juice Truck, Myodetox and all of our community partners for their support of Get Juiced with Zach and Rob.
